By Tanseem Haider: The Delhi Police scanned through footage from 40 CCTV cameras in a 5-kilometer radius to arrest three burglars.
The accused — Sheikh Munna, Sheikh Mallu and Sheikh Buddhu — had eight theft cases under their name.
The trio were arrested in Malviya Nagar area on Monday, and one gold ring, one bag of artificial jewellery, an iron rod presumably used to break into homes, four mobile phones, and clothes worn by them on the day of theft were recovered by the police.
In recent months, several cases of burglary were registered in the Malviya Nagar area.
Recently, the trio allegedly broke into a house and stole cash, jewelry, and other household items.
A case was registered, and police scanned through CCTV footage to map down the trio’s entry and exit points. Soon they were identified, and it came to their notice that the trio might have fled to their home village in Bihar.
A police team reached Kaithar in Bihar to nab the suspects but could not trace them.
Acting on a tip-off, the police then laid a trap, and the trio were arrested in Malviya Nagar area on Saturday.
During interrogation, they admitted to the crime and said they used to work as labourers. They identified places for their theft during their shift and later stole money and jewellery from these houses.
They used to escape into their home town in Bihar, but this time the police were able to arrest them.
