By India Today Web Desk: India took an unassailable lead in the 3-match series after winning the second ODI match at Eden Gardens. India were guided by a patient half-century from KL Rahul, who held the innings from one end in a 4-wicket victory for the hosts. Rahul drew praise from former India batter Gautam Gambhir who lauded the batter for his maturity at a time when Sri Lanka really looked threatening with the ball.

Gambhir further praised Kuldeep Yadav and called him the point of difference between the two sides. The wrist spinner, apart from picking up three wickets, also hit the winning runs while batting in the second innings of the game.
“I thought Kuldeep Yadav was exceptional and KL Rahul played a very mature innings, which was very important. We have seen what he can do at the top of the order but this was something that stood out for me. He used his experience and anchored from one end which was the need of the hour after India had lost 4 wickets,” Gambhir said on host broadcaster Star Sports.
This was Kuldeep’s first game of the series after Yuzvendra Chahal was preferred over him in the first ODI match at Guwahati. The former Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowler picked up three wickets in the game for 51 runs from his 10 overs.
The tour will now move to Thiruvananthapuram for a dead rubber. India will opt to make a few changes, hinted captain Rohit Sharma after the game. The match will be crucial for Sri Lanka, who do not have automatic qualification for the World Cup and will hope to seal 10 points in the ODI Super League.
