There is so much talk about skincare products and home remedies for our face, hair and other body parts. But our buttocks remain a hush-hush topic. There isn’t much information on how to get a smooth and spotless bum, but it is a genuine issue that many people may face. It especially becomes essential in summer when women want to flaunt their bodies in bikini swimsuits or booty shorts. Come, let’s get some butt skincare tips.
Recently, Hollywood actress and singer Jennifer Lopez launching a booty balm under her home brand, to cater to people who want to get firm and hydrated butt skin. But this makes us wonder if it is possible to get a smooth and acne-free butt at home without investing in many of the expensive and chemical infused beauty products.
To find out, Health Shots reached out to dermatologists at Sarin Skin Solutions who guided us with ways to get a smooth and spotless butt:
It’s essential to use a wash that does not dry out the natural oil from the skin and adds to hydration while giving good cleansing. One can pick a gel-based moisturizer for this. “A moisturizer that has aloe vera is a good option,” says Dr. Ankur Sarin.
“Acne often develops on the buttocks and it is necessary to keep it clean. Benzoyl peroxide soaps and gel wash work well by decreasing the bacterial colonies,” says Dr. Ankur. Wash with a benzoyl peroxide wash and keep the lather on for 2-3 minutes before washing. This ensures a good contact time for benzoyl peroxide to show its antibacterial action. Wash with a regular wash every time you sweat to prevent build-up in the follicles.
If one has spots on the buttocks after healing of acne or folliculitis it is a good idea to use an exfoliator, these decrease the epidermal turnover time and help improve the skin texture and reduce the chances of boils on the buttocks.
4. Wear loose clothes
Let your skin breathe, especially in summers and monsoons when it is extremely hot and humid. Dr. Jushya Sarin advises to avoid tight athleisure and instead, wearing loose cotton clothing while working out is preferable for people with uneven skin tone and texture on buttocks.
5. Choose your wipes wisely
Be careful while choosing the toilet paper you use. It needs to be soft and gentle to your skin. Dr. Jushya says not to wipe using fragrant wipes, and always use cotton towels or dry tissues.
