Air India Plane Crash News: A London-bound Air India flight crashed near Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport during takeoff on Thursday. Reports suggest there were 242 passengers on board, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national, and seven Portuguese nationals.
Several Bollywood actors including Riteish Deshmukh, Akshay Kumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Sunny Deol, and Parineeti Chopra — have expressed grief and shock over the tragic incident and extended their condolences to the families of the passengers.

Akshay Kumar sent prayers to the affected families, saying, “Shocked and speechless at the Air India crash. Only prayers at this time.”
Taking to Instagram, Janhvi Kapoor expressed her disbelief: “Shaken by the news of the Air India flight crash that took place shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. The weight of such tragedies is impossible to put into words. Praying deeply for the passengers, the crew, and every family waiting for answers tonight.”
Sunny Deol wrote, “Devastated by the news of the plane crash in Ahmedabad. Praying with all my heart for survivors — may they be found and receive the care they need. May those who lost their lives rest in peace, and may their families find strength in this unimaginable time.”
Randeep Hooda said, “Heartbreaking to hear about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected. Hoping for survivors and strength for the rescue teams. May the departed rest in peace, and may their families find the strength to endure this immense loss.”
Calling the incident “devastating,” Alia Bhatt shared, “My heart aches for all the passengers and crew. Thoughts and prayers with everyone on board and their loved ones.”
Riteish Deshmukh expressed his concern, stating, “Absolutely heartbroken and in shock after hearing about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. My heart goes out to all the passengers, their families, and everyone affected on the ground. Holding them all in my thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”
Pan-India star Allu Arjun also joined the outpouring of support, writing, “Heartbroken by the tragic Ahmedabad Air India flight crash. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims. May their souls rest in peace. Truly heart-wrenching.”

Ahmedabad Plane Crash: What We Know So Far
According to Air Traffic Control (ATC), the aircraft departed from Ahmedabad at 13:39 IST (08:09 UTC) from Runway 23. The pilot reportedly issued a mayday call to ATC moments before the crash. The aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff, just outside the airport perimeter.
Visuals from the Meghani area captured thick black smoke billowing into the sky. The flight was scheduled to depart at 1:10 PM from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad to London’s Gatwick Airport. It was being piloted by Captain Sumeet Sabharwal and First Officer Clive Kundar.
