AB de Villiers can make a comeback for South Africa if he continues to play good cricket, says Mark Boucher

South Africa and Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman AB de Villiers is considered to be one of the best players to have ever played the limited-overs format. He is such a delight to watch when he is in full-flow, and he showed glimpses of his best form when he was playing for the RCB earlier this month.

This has led to several of his fans asking for his return to the South African colours soon, and if one is to take the words of the Proteas head coach Mark Boucher seriously, then there seems to be the possibility of it happening in the near future.

Mark Boucher has revealed that AB de Villiers is in international team selection discussions and he might make a comeback in international cricket if he continues to play good cricket in franchise leagues.

Boucher, while speaking at a press conference, stated that de Villiers was in selection talks before Covid-19. Interestingly, there were reports that ABD was interested in playing the 2019 World Cup but in the end, his name didn’t appear in the main squad.

“AB was in discussions before Covid, he is always in discussions when he is playing good cricket, to be honest with you. Going forward I haven’t had a discussion with him at all, he has been playing in the IPL. He had a very good IPL too,” Boucher was quoted as saying by News 18.

AB de Villiers and wife welcome their newborn daughter

On Friday, de Villiers took to Instagram to welcome the newest addition to his family.

His wife Danielle gave birth to a daughter on November 11 and the couple have named her Yente de Villiers.

The RCB star also posted a photo of the three of them and wrote, “On 11-11-2020, we welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world Yente de Villiers, you are the perfect addition to our family and such a blessing. We are grateful beyond measure for YOU! Genade onbeskryklik groot. Dankie Here.”

The couple got married in 2013 and are parents to two sons. The De Villiers welcomed their first child Abraham de Villiers in 2015 and second son John Richard de Villiers in 2017.

Ever since the post went up, the wicket-keeper batsman has received over 1.45 lakh likes to his post and a steady stream of congratulatory messages.
